Abbey di Sant'Antimo

A former Benedictine monastery in the comune of MontalcinoTuscany, central Italy.  The foundation of the original Benedictine monastery dates to the time of Charlemagne. The various accounts of Charlemagne founding the abbey are without direct historical foundation; they first appear in a document of the emperor Henry III from 1051.
Boy I struggled today but you couldn't help but be struck by the inside of this building it just screamed out B&W. A little extra too, I was running late and didn't want to head back to the minivan and on the way out past this stunning tree truck which is meant to be over a 1000 years old. Could have spent another half an hour just on the tree truck but they would have left me behind!
