men at work

one of the roads near us is closed for alterations (and means there are no buses so I had to walk up to church) and when we got back from café grandson and I (and granddad who got back on his bike just as we were going) went to see what they are doing.
A replacement sports facility is to be built in the park and as it is to be bigger it needs better access roads and turning space. The road is closed to re-surface the junction, later they will be building a new bridge just over the hill. whilst we were looking the supervisor came over and was answering grandson's questions and explaining what they were doing. The machine at the back is a paver and the roller is a 10 ton 2 point contact (or something!). He was very patient and offered grandson a job and gave him his card which was proudly carried home until he's big enough!
We then went in the garden and grandson was carrying compost around pretending he was making a road.
