Birmingham Back to Back Houses.

I visited a National Trust property today, an original collection of Back to Back Houses in Birmingham from the 19th century. The main picture is of two houses with a side entry and their tin baths hanging up outside as there is no room to store them inside the houses. They were usually used once a week in front of the fire for all of the family. The additional photos show an outside wash house, wash tubs, dollies and wringer/mangle to squeeze the water from the clothes after washing, and an early version of an outside toilet, which was sometimes called a thunderbox.
