A new visitor to the neighbourhood - I've seen the heron flying over quite a lot but it's never stopped before.  Perhaps it was scouting out the possibilities in the pond that's in the back garden of this house.

My best friend has a birthday today.  You should definitely check out his Blip - he finds some of the best stories ever and writes them up brilliantly.  Herzlichen Glückwunsch MDOT.

And there was some sad news today - as so often  this year.  Muhammad Ali died.  I'm reminded of what Hunter S. Thompson said about him "That was always the difference between Muhammad Ali and the rest of us.  He came, he saw, and if he didn’t entirely conquer — he came as close as anybody we are likely to see in the lifetime of this doomed generation."

The picture in the link of Ali & Joe Frazier taken in 2003 is awesome.

I had picture of Ali over my desk for years when I worked in Scotland.  I'm not a boxing fan but something about him spoke to me.
