Lactodorum, Northamptonshire + ghosts

I was in Towcester (Lactodorum to the ancient Romans) for an hour or so this morning, a small town full of history and one that has had the sense to retain many of its old buildings.

This one is (these days) The Pickled Pig pub. It is both a listed building and a listing (leaning!) building dating from 1647, retaining many original features. It is reputedly haunted by the ghosts of 5 children who died here in 1763.

More recently, the pub landlord and his best friend fought over a young woman, leading to one man throwing himself under a train at which the landlord hung himself in the pub's upper room (2009).
