Vines at La Salceta

Our holiday house was in the middle of a vineyard. Just walking down the lane from the house and this was the view.

According to the website The Salceta, whose products are certified organic, is part of an ancient family estate, now completely restored. The estate also produces an extra virgin olive oil IGP, in complete compliance with the organic production method and the traditional ones. The la Salceta mission is to lead the firm with a philosophy strongly linked to its territory, respecting and maintaining it, using biological techniques to express all the complex features of our Val d'Arno. Leverages to the indigenous grapes, primarily Sangiovese, but selecting the best varieties and using other varietals, to search for that special ability to become distinguishe, with boutique wines. And then winemaking techniques that interpret the traditional ones, enriching them with the latest technology and knowledge, ensuring the highest expression of terroir without the use ofwood in winemaking and aging.
The Salceta is one of the promoters of the new Val d'Arno di Sopra DOC, that aims to protec and promote the viticulture and wine quality of the Val d'Arno, already recognized area ofexcellence in the Notice of Cosimo III de'Medici in 1716.
The vineyard is located at an altitude of 234 meters ASL, facing south - south east, and with spurred cordon.
Four wines: Chianti basic Ruschieto, a Chianti Riserva DOCG with particular freshness and structure through the stainless steel aging; a selected production of la Nocetta, a IGT produced with selected autochthonous Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc and finally Osato, an a rosé made from Cabernet Franc grapes, white vinifications.
