An English Summer Scene

The village green at Southease, in the Ouse Valley between Lewes and Newhaven, Sussex, at around 3:20 this afternoon on the first day of the village's two-day Open Gardens Fête. To add to the slightly surreal atmosphere, at the time I was taking this (and the other two 'Extra' photos), the brass band (in the marquee behind the second-hand clothes stall) were playing David Rose's 1958-1962 classic The Stripper. However, nobody present seemed to show the slightest inclination to disrobe.
