Day12: Forges les Eaux- Cergy

We arrived really tired in Cergy, burnt and, in my case, a bit bruised!
The first part of the trip was great, up to Gisors, a lovely town with a very interesting church, dedicated to St Gervais and Saint Proteus, founded in the 12th century, burnt down and rebuilt in the 13th, then added to in the 15th and 16th..so the style rznges from Gothic to Renaissance. It was bombed during World War II, but has been well restored. There are lots of details to see - I loved the stained glass window by Nicholas Le Prince from Beauvais (XV) detailing the lives and death of St Crispin and St Crispinian. The sun was shining, zip we had a great lunch. Life was good!

After that, we had to make a fairly long detour as the party in the Garmin didn't exist anymore. Then spotting a beautiful village in the distance I slowed to stop and my wheel slid on gravel and I fell. No real harm! Then it became a slog. No distances were indicated on signs and the approach to Cergy was complicated and long Cergy itself is a pretty horrible place but we have somewhere reasonable to stay. A glass of wine and things get better!
