Sisters Are Binging It For Themselves

The  Five Sisters are a common site from various viewpoints in West Lothian.

Another throw back to a bye gone industrial age, these are spent shale bings left over from oil production required to meet demand during and after WW2. Where the shale was dumped depended on the wind direction hence the 5 bings.

The Five Sisters change in colour with the seasons and have featured in books and films, including the TV adaptation of Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus novel "The Black Book".
