Skyline

This is the view of the university in Lawrence, Kansas from the south. The university is on the highest  point of the town and is commonly referred to as The Hill. In this shot the distance from the photographer is about two miles. In the foreground is the "new" bypass that is scheduled for completion this fall. it was first proposed and partially  funded in 1985! In the mid distance is a screen that has been built to reduce noise pollution for Haskell Indian University which is on the other side of the barrier. There was considerable controversy over the placement of this road because it runs partially through a wetlands and land that was once Indian. The noise reduction was part of the final agreement on the building of the road. Sorry about all the wires!

Another beautiful day today. R and I are having a big sale this weekend and R is busy sticking price tags on lots of items, including many tools and scuba diving equipment.
