From Monsaraz to Lisbon - Portugese Diary

Was awake really early this morning.  It was very sunny - again - weather has been fabulous so far, and when it was a reasonable time, got up and showered etc and we had a walk round the village and up to the castle before breakfast.  One of the artists was already sitting in place drawing the view from inside the walls up the pretty cobbled streets.  Loved the sense of stillness as we walked around the great walls and looking towards the views over the countryside.

Headed in for breakfast and then checked out and headed on our way towards Lisbon.  Stopped for petrol before the Vasco da Gama bridge across the Tegus and then arrived at Lisbon airport to drop off the car.  We were staying in a duplex in the Alfama and thought would get a taxi there but the queue for the taxis were enormous so we took the metro, which involved changing to a different line.  We arrived at our destination station Santo Apolonia but before walking up the hill we stopped off for a refreshment as it was pretty warm and was bushed!

We arrived at our Airbnb property, which was up 55 stairs and wwere met by Sonia, who was just finishing off cleaning the property with her husband and daughter.  She showed us round it, and was very impressed, it had lovely views over to the River and there was a massive cruise ship in which had a good view of.  The apartment was lovely and bonus it had two bathrooms so one each!

As it was the Bruce concert at the festival later that night we need to sleep as he wasn't coming on stage till 12 midnight!!  We went out for a Portugese sausage and salad and then it was back to Santa Apolonia for the metro to the festival grounds.  We arrived around 11.30 and then found a spot to wait for Bruce coming on .  He played for two hours and was amazing as usual.... He never disappoints his fans.

As the metro shut at 1 we had to get a bus back to city centre.  Then dropped off at Rossio then a taxi to Alfama.  Was completely bushed and it was 3am fell asleep.....  Latest I've been out for donkeys years!!
