Snapping Turtle

This mama snapping turtle was on the trail at the north end of the McKenzie Marsh in Aurora. I'm assuming it is a female. It seemed to be digging up the lawn and dirt - likely to lay eggs. Nice and sunny there most of the time. Not the biggest such turtle I've ever seen but a good size nonetheless. It was about the size of the average backpack/knapsack people carry around these days to work and school.

Linda has another view of this fine beastie.
