Lathyrus Odoratus

By lathyrus

Dactylorhiza maculata

This morning's orchid survey on the northern part of the reserve was much more successful than the southern one a few days ago. On the verge of one firebreak less than a hundred metres long I counted more than 200 heath-spotted orchids hidden in the grass. The northern part of the reserve isn't grazed in the summer months which may help explain the distribution of flowering orchids.
