The Hebrides, Day one, Flodda bay

We've arrived on the isle of Harris and we are staying in a nice B&B in Flodabay ( Fleoideabhagh in Gaelic). It's on the East Coast of Harris with views over to Skye, on a clear day !
We drove down roads just wide enough for the car, stopping to let sheep and cows cross. Glad to have made it to the B&B before dark.We quickly went for a walk down to the little bay where two colourful boats bobbed about on the out going tide. I should think it was a busy area in the past. Today it looks like it's still used for fishing with a working sink on the concrete jetty.
We set off early this morning, stopped at Garve for Breakfast rolls and then on to Skye. It was raining but not too cold. We had lunch in the Watermill in Broadford. Really good and it's had a make over so now even better than before.
The sun came out when we reached Portree. We found a really lovely walk on the outskirts and enjoyed an hour or two of sunshine before heading for the Ferry at UIg. The pottery was calling me and I bought a nice bowl and the Brewery was calling Mike so he bought some Isle of Skye beer.
A fairly calm crossing and we saw several gannets and a pod of what I think must have been Common dolphins :)
