From Botswana to Scotland

Graham Greene said a writer’s childhood represented his/her own private goldmine, a rich seam to mined throughout their creative lives.
Some artists do too. Gio Martin , who now lives in Dunblane, grew up in Botswana and her early African influences are clearly visible in her big bold lino-cut prints. (see extra photo).
As a child she collected lizards, chameleons, crickets and tortoises bringing these small creatures  back into her home to draw.

(Gio Martin is taking part this week in Artbeat- Forth Valley Open Studios)
