Ah, the summer fête; the ideal opportunity to be relieved of piles of cash all in aid of a good cause. Fortunately the weather held this year. While +1/3 and +2/3 were off with their friends, +3/3 decided to go for a spin on the teacups.

Funnily enough, we'd watched the landing of Soyuz TMA-19M and had a long discussion about why the astronauts were looking quite so green when they came out. I think it's delightful that in this day and age of constant, all access and often invasive reporting the coverage was manipulated to preserve the astronaut's privacy: when Tim Peake was on the phone, the audio was blanked; when Tim Kopra was busy throwing up the ground crew very tactfully formed a wall around him so he could have some peace. 

Anyway, back to the tea cups. I've discovered that I'm definitely not astronaut material; after one too many turns on the waltzers when I was about 14 I've not been able to stomach being spun around. This was no exception.
