Hebrides Day Five, Summer Solstice at the Stones

We were up early, REALLY early , 3.30am infact and we went down to the Callanish Stones to wait for the sunrise. We were expecting to see lots of people but maybe they thought  the Solstice is tomorrow so it was us, two druids who seemed to perform a ritual at the time of sunrise. One walked round the large central stone,  leaving shells and stones as he walked round. A candle was lit and placed in the chambered tomb. Two other on lookers stood in the circle until the time of the sunrise. There as low cloud but the sky was lit up above and the sky changed to shades of pink.
The others left so we were left alone. We walked around the stones, touching each one. We walked up the small hill and then these two men appeared with their didgeridoos. They start playing them and there was the gentle hum of the vibration and then the sun appeared lighting everywhere up.
Back to the self catering for Breakfast and for Mike to get some more sleep and then back to the stones for a Blipmeet with Rachel, 58NorthPhoto, and her Mum. A great chat and a walk around the stones luckily avoiding the coach loads of visitors and the rain. We chatted over our hot drinks and then said our farewells, great to meet them both :)
We drove over to Uig and explored sandy beaches big and small and found 'Rachel's Beach' where huge waves were crashing against the shoreline.
Oh and another coincidence was when we bought a Katie Morag book from a store in Uig and mentioned we were staying near the house in the series and the lady behind the counter told us she had painted the house for the set.
