Rainbow Bridge

Bonhill Bridge, Alexandria.

Built in 1987 at a cost of £700000; 284 tonnes of steel with a 60 metre span. It's the third bridge to be built on this stretch of the River Leven - the first was in 1836, the second in 1898.
Known locally as the 'Rainbow Bridge'.

In the foreground is a pyramid (one of three) erected using some of the red sandstone from the 1898 bridge piers, and the remains of one of the four gas lights that stood on those piers.
