Come back next week and this view will all have changed. The harbor dredge, Seabright, which has been operating at the harbor mouth since1986, is slated to be replaced by a new more efficient machine to clear the harbor mouth. Construction and assembly of the new rig has already begun.

The small grey and blue building on stilts on the left is an iconic harborside restaurant that is scheduled to be demolished in order to facilitate long overdue repairs to the sea wall. Their last day is Saturday. They've been promised a new building and a long lease, but we know it's never going to look like the funky old place in Extras. I met a friend here for breakfast this morning, just to try their special french toast one more time. Truth is, I hardly go to the place, but I like knowing it's there. It's a great venue to share with out of town guests--nothing beats a meal right on the water, and this place maintained a fine local flair and served good reasonable food. They will be running the business out of a food truck in the parking lot until the new digs are complete, and of course everyone is wondering what will appear. Wondering what the dredge will look like too, and if it will be more efficient.
