Ihuatzio Ruins

While visiting the well-known ruins at Tzintzuntzan a couple of weeks ago we had noticed another archeological site off the road at Ihuatzio. Today's sunny skies prompted us to make the 15 minute trip east of town to view these ruins. We weren't expecting much, but were totally blown away by the size of the site and well preserved state of the ruins. They are not as large as Tzintzuntzan, nor in as impressive a location, but at Ihuatzio we were allowed to climb on the surrounding walls. Here my wife is scaling the west wall of the main courtyard area. I think the two Yachats in the background were scalable also if I had worn more sensible shoes. Maybe flip flops aren't perfect for everything.
