A Bonnie Day

I didn't give a minute's thought to packing sunglasses or sun cream for our Orkney holiday. That turns out to have been a big mistake as the temperature here hit the high teens today with wall to wall sunshine and no wind. It was a relief to escape occasionally into the shade of the buildings on the 'Street'.

We had a lazy day after yesterday's exertions. This meant gentle strolling in the sunshine and watching the world go by from various vantage points, this grassy knoll beside the cannon reputed to have fired for the Hudson Bay's fleet, being one of them.
During the day there was some toast involved and a little ice cream. It felt like being on holiday.
