Puffins at the Isle of May

On a day that we woke up to  the unbelievable news that the UK had voted to LEAVE, we didn't have too much time for it to sink in as we were booked on a 9.00am Seafari trip to the Isle of May.  Despite a poor forecast the weather was fabulous, with only one short downpour.  I will make a video in the fullness of time.  The puffins, the guillemots, terns, shags, razorbills, gulls, eider ducks and kittiwakes are all hard at work feeding their chicks. We were pecked by terns defending their chicks and screamed at by gulls, but the puffins just hopped closer.  If you are quiet, they will seek you out since you are bigger than their predators - the gulls.  The extra shows one of the many lone 'boys' waiting vainly for a female to offer their sand eels to. The Isle of May hosts the largest puffin colony after St. Kilda, but is a lot easier to get to. We returned via the Bass Rock, home to the largest colony of gannets in the world.
The trip was a welcome distraction.  Now we are home and the disbelief has worn off, we are starting to feel angry. I didn't vote for Scottish Independence, but would like another chance to consider it.
