Bridal Veil Falls

Today we went to the old west town of Deadwood, South Dakota - well known for being the place where Wild Bill Hickock was killed and the trial was held for his murder. The town sprang up due to the gold rush back in the 1800s and was a lawless and wild place. Prostitution was only outlawed in 1988.  Today it has quite a draw for tourists - lots of souvenir shops and restaurants.  We visited the museum which was very interesting, and took a walking tour of the town. The temperature was in the 90s.

After Deadwood, we drove the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway and that is where this falls is located. It was a beautiful drive through a rocky canyon. Then we headed back to Custer and had dinner, then back to the cabin to get packed up and ready to leave very early in the morning for the long drive home.
