The World Through My Eyes

By Marlieske

Veterans Day!

Today it is Veterans Day in the Netherlands. The day when we show our support and appreciation to our veterans. My love is a veteran too... I'm very proud of him and I'm very happy he is no longer in the Air Force...
This annual national event at the Netherlands is to thank its 130,000 military veterans for their commitment, now and in the past...

Veterans carry different symbols showing their veteran status. Veterans pin (officially wear insignia veterans) they wear it on the lapel. The V stands for the concepts veteran, peace and security.

The white carnation is not an official symbol, but stems from a citizens' initiative with origins in World War II. The white carnation mostly known because HRH Prince Bernhard always wore one, and he is regarded as the "father of veterans" by many. The white carnation symbolizes recognition and appreciation for veterans from our society...

Thank you all so much for all your lovely comments and stars for my yesterdays Blip! They all are highly appreciated... Xxx
