Fingers crossed for Halls

Not to happy a blip, but every time I go past 'Halls of Broxburn', I can't help wondering how the 1700 employees have been feeling over the last few weeks.

The owners announced a few weeks ago that the plant was losing £80,000 per DAY and as this was unsustainable, they may have to close. They are now into the required 90 day consultation period and meetings to find a solution and to save the jobs are on-going.

Only 1/4 of a mile from where I live, Halls have been a part of Broxburn for many, many years and I took more than a few photographs there in the 1980's/90's.

A family business founded in 1932, it was subsequently taken over by Grampian Foods and then by the Dutch Food Group, Vion, the current owners.

Such a loss would be a huge blow for the town - and beyond - so it's fingers crossed all round.
