Unusual Angle - Backtrack 29 years

Exactly 29 years ago to the day we sat in this room, enjoying our wedding reception.

It was a great pleasure to be able to enjoy a meal in this room again.  The Oakley House and Country Club has been derelict for many years.  I'd even had the opportunity to walk through the dilapidated and empty interior in the last few years, meeting potential developers who wanted to demolish the buildings and erect executive homes.  It was such a shame.

So imagine my delight when I saw work starting on its renovation.  It has been renamed the Oakley Arms and is gaining a strong following already.  It's hardly surprising when they treat their customers so well.  We had mentioned to our waitress that it was our anniversary and the link to the old club and no sooner had we sat down than two complimentary glasses of prosecco were presented.  They went down very well!
