Welcome to Mongolia

Local icon, Ghengis Khan.  Ulaanbaatar is a sprawling urban and somewhat industrial spread and not particularly scenic.  There are lots of unfinished buildings a consequence of the global commodity slump and the impact this has had on the local economy (prices for copper and coal about a third of what they were).  It's much cooler here than I thought it would be.  But of course warmer than my last week of blips in Mongolia last winter.
