Ah, the dusting on the frons! How easily one slips into hoverfly jargon. Truly addictive these little flying gems, but always a challenge for the photographer. One (non-windy) day I'm going to find one co-operative enough to let me do a really good focus stack. 


It looks as if we won't quite reach my personal target of 200 species for our local wildlife group walk on Sunday, but with some data still to be sorted we have already recored 50 new species for the reserve - not bad for a 2.8 hectare urban site.
