Mount Ararat

As we travelled south from Yerevan, Mount Ararat gave great views, just over the border to the west. In my experience, it is usually far more hazy at this time of the year. We all tried to get good photos from the minibus, but didn't want to stop as we had a date with butterflies and birds in a semi-desert area on the edge of Kosrov Reserve. The view of Ararat dominates the landscape in this part of Armenia and is a constant reminder to Armenians of the large area of western Armenia that was stolen by the Turks and the many thousands of Armenians killed at that time. Very sad - what an impressive emblem of that atrocious period.
