Tortworth Manor Gloucestershire

Totworth Manor estates date back to the mid 1300, Totworth Court was built from 1849 to 1853, with stones from the original Manor House. It was bought in 1991 by Philip Stubbs who started to develop flats and house, was destroyed by fire and derelict for 8 years then bought and renovated into a hotel
At the cost of around 20 million. It was referred to by the Navy in the war as Stone Frigate. 1942 a hospital was built in the grounds the Doctors and Nursing staff lived in the house, Hundreds of wounded Amercan soldiers and personnel were treated from 1943 to 1945.


Left Cornwall today my sister in much better spirits, when we left. I will post a picture tomorrow of the out side it is a beautiful building.
