In Newick

The start of a new month: we woke up this morning for the first time in our new permanent home in Newick, almost seven months since we first saw the property, and after an exhausting day yesterday transporting our furniture and belongings along the A272 from our temporary home in Piltdown.

The normally busy A272 was quiet and still when I photographed this view of the Village Green at around 8:45 this evening.

The small pyramid in the foreground is the Centenary Stone around which candles were lit last night to remember the eve of the Battle of the Somme, exactly 100 years ago.
