Bridges over the Forth

This evening we caught the train from Fife to Edinburgh on our journey to Glasgow - a journey which involves crossing the famous "Forth Bridge" opened in 1890 and crossed only by rail.
From the train there is an excellent view of the Forth Road Bridge in the foreground opened by the Queen in 1964 and replacing the old ferry crossing which I remember well as a boy.
A replacement for this bridge is being built and its part construction and the high cranes involved can be seen behind. This bridge which will be called the Queensferry Crossing is due to be opened next year.
