The Art Garden

This windmill is called The Nieuwe Veenmolen and is located at the border between the city of The Hague and Voorburg.

It's built in 1654 and was used to pump out water from a lake to create new land. A method which mainly created the Netherlands for we live under sea level, protected by dykes.

Next to this windmill is a natural garden with many artistic sculptures exposed in harmony with the surroundings.

It's kind of a hidden place and I only discovered it by cycling another route than I regularly do, and I'm glad I did.
