Pond Lily

I went for a walk in the Manor Gardens & looked into the Pond & saw this beautiful Lily.
I remember years ago the pond wasn't fenced off as it is now, also there used to be a Large Aviary with lots of different birds in it & Tortoises walking around the bottom. 
I wonder why it was taken away??
