Hay's Dock

A wonderful crossing overnight from Aberdeen to Lerwick. It was calm as a millpond, clear and the boat wasn't busy at all. Slept a bit and got up about 05:30 to watch the south mainland slip by as we sailed up to dock in Lerwick at 07:30.

There was a bit of rain late morning but this afternoon has been glorious. Sunny, warm, no wind at all.

This is Hay's Dock, part of the excellent Shetland Museum and Archives. The boats are great examples of traditional Shetland boats. ZE1Christie works here but is away in Australia just now.

I've been visiting Shetland on and off for a very long time. I love it and feel so lucky to have a week's holiday here ahead of me.
