An excellent day at the Opening of the 5th Session of the Scottish Parliament.

The solemn, formal, ritual part of the process (the Queen, the Royal Company of Archers, The Lord Lyon, the Honours of Scotland, the Makar, the First Minister, the 'anthem' (Burns' "A Man's a man for a' that") happened early.

The fun part started at the same time out on thetea Canongate: a Riding (procession) of bands, choirs, community groups, drummers, dancers, dragons! Mass picnic on the steps of Dynamic Earth. Then inside to see some of the other performers; We sang, on the steps leading down the to the Garden Room. Beautifully, i think.
