Bird's Eye View

We decided to walk up to the Duke of Sutherland's Monument at Trentham Gardens and around Kings Wood and back to the car this morning. It takes about 2 hours.

This is a close-up of the view from the foot of the monument looking back along the lake towards the Italian Gardens.

If you view the photo large, you can see - from left to right - The Loggia, Perseus, the remains of the Porte-cochére, St Marys and All Saints Parish Church, the Italian Gardens in front of the church and Miss Elisabeth, the boat which takes folks on trips around the lake.

Apologies for the big white marquee! This is due to Staffordshire University. Their degree ceremonies are held at the gardens in mid July each year, and the marquees are currently being erected for this. Not a bad spot for it though - weather permitting.....?

The greenery in the foreground of the shot is the trees on one of the islands. This one houses the heronry each Spring.

I have put it through Bleach Bypass in Colour Efex Pro, just to get the details to stand out a little more. The original is in the extras.
