Clues from the past

This is another photo which demonstrates how interesting our old buildings are if one looks above street level and the ground floor.
I'm often fascinated by faded old signs on buildings which give clues of a former use of the building.
This is the Herald building which was the home of Ackrill newspapers from the turn of the century until 1990. Originally there were two competing papers, the Herald, and the Advertiser - the latter being mainly for visitors to the town. Visitors to Harrogate could contact the Advertiser who would publish a visitor list in the paper on a certain day each week. You can see the old text on the front of the building refers to the 'List of Visitors'.
