The Red Baron Flies Again.

Finished this Revell 1/72nd scale D-III Albatros this evening, this kit was released in 1981, so it's been waiting 35 years to be constructed.

Introduced into action in December 1916, the D-III was considered to be more maneuverable and powerful than contemporary aircraft, and despite having dangerous design flaws it became the aircraft of choice for many German pilots, including Manfred von Richtofen who had more kills with his Albatros than in his more celebrated Fokker dreidecker.

Any more Great War model biplanes and I'll soon be able to recreate Howard Hughes' Oscar-winning World War One epic Hell's Angels.
