A morning in Dunoon, an afternoon in Rothesay

In Dunoon there are red bikes appearing on lampposts and in other strange places.  I glimpsed one yesterday but another  popped up overnight just by my office.   Then, as I was taking the picture and wondering what was going on, the actress Emma Thompson walked by.

The normality of the island street scene in Rothesay, seen a couple of hours later (and my extra photo) was therefore re-assuring as well as attractive. 

(BTW the red bikes are apparently advertising - very cleverly - the Dunoon Family Bike Day on the 16th of July.  But it really was Emma Thompson who has a long standing connection with Cowal.)
