Roadtrip day 6 - Driving 14 hours plus some

3698km / 3950km in total

We started the day in Warsaw Poland, drove through Lithuania to Latvia, where we are now in a border town called Ainazi. We are right next to Estonia. So we have about 3 hour drive to Ferry harbor. We haven’t yet booked a ferry, we’ll see where they can fit us tomorrow.

So we really drove 14 hours and some. The roads have road work - naturally - as the summer is the only sensible time to do it up here in north. Also there’s only one lane /direction so the speed is dropped. But we did a huge day today and now we’ll get some sleep and breakfast and if all goes well we’ll be in Helsinki tomorrow.

Today has been filled with agricultural landscapes. In Poland we saw stork nests! The picture on up right corner is the baltic sea. It’s seen between the tree trunks.

The weather has been nice. We’ve seen some rain too. Mostly sunny and around 20, but very windy. We are about 250m from the sea. We tried to walk there, but it just goes into a long grass meadow, so the fear of ticks made us turn away. Few hundred meters after that we saw a sign warning about ticks. When we got back to our room, we had to strip off our clothes and make a tick search to avoid lyme infection and tick-borne encephalitis (which is often deadly). We’ll do another search after shower.

Another short write up. Again so much to do and so little time and so so tired.

Ar labu nakti!

Ps. Ainazi seems like a picturesque little place with wonderful nature to hike, kayak, bike, kite surf, what ever. Every nature lover should visit the beaches of Baltic sea if possible.

Ps.2 In this little hotel you can choose the breakfast you want. I have an omelet with my name on it tomorrow morning. First hotel breakfast during this trip!
