A concrete love affair

A50 Leicester-Derbyshire Viaduct

The A50 viaduct carries six lanes of the road across the River Trent and in doing so across the boundary between Leicestershire and Derbyshire. Yet another intriguing structure and yet another with a transitive quality.

My extra photograph is the railway bridge to the south of this structure. Again taking the line across the counties and the River Trent. What I found most interesting was the sense that you really were on the edge and the rivers edge felt like a coastline. Surely its Leicestershire best candidate for coast, especially with huge swathes of low-lying grassland so reminiscent of the East Midland's true coastline in Lincolnshire.
