By Jove

The afternoons are consistently hitting the sticky 34C mark. I drove us up twisting lanes to see Mt Giove (Jove) behind Florence. Even at over 1000ft at 6 o'clock it was still 28C. This plant was in the wayside.

An amazing vista of totally wooded hills - oak, a kind of elm, and higher up the chestnuts all hoary with their long trailing blooms. The road stopped at St Ansano a tiny hamlet perched on the end of ridge.

Later we ran down to the Mugello and Rufina chianti country . My these Italains drive come dei pazzi which led to some swearing. Then back over the steep hills in a seriously underpowered Cinquecento through Doccia, Molino del Piano and Olmo before charging up the long hill from le Caldine back to our palazzo basement in San Domenico.

The Boss is working hard. I'm refining my Italian and remembering shopping words.

Ciao a tutti
