The Old Forge (Tuesday 5th July 2016)

I have photographed the Boston Ivy that grows all over the outbuilding many times before. The work on the building has meant that it has been drastically reduced this year, but the roots are undamaged so I hope it will revive. I haven't blipped any of its dead, withered leaves before and they are impressive in their own way. Boston Ivy (Parthenocissus tricuspidata Veitchii) isn't an ivy, but is a distant cousin of Virginia Creeper.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Cruel Sea - Better Get A Lawyer (1994)
I discovered this band when Henry Rollins played this track whilst standing in for Jarvis Cocker on his Six Music Sunday Service show a week or two ago. They formed in Sydney, Australia in 1987.
The band named themselves after the Ventures' recording of The Cruel Sea. This was a cover of a 1963 instrumental by the Dakotas, in turn named after the 1953 film The Cruel Sea starring Jack Hawkins, adapted from the book The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Monsarrat, published in 1951.
