Hedgehog Corner . . .

.  .  . a Trail Cam Cat Special

We’ve had the trail cam for a month now and put it to good use around the estate (garden) mostly discovering where and how often we have been visited by hedgehogs (and cats).

The main shot is the set-up for a cat-scarer experiment.  Food is put under the table under the tree.

We would rather the local cats NOT eat the hedgehog food, and to we are not sure how effective our cat scarers are (we use them to keep the cats away from the bird feeding stations etc), nor if they would frighten the hedgehogs (which we don’t want).

The inlay is the night before last with no cat scarer, and our regular feline heading for the food.

Last night with the cat scarer in place we were visited by one of our hedgehogs but no sign off a cat, so it looks as if the hedgehogs may not effected, even with their acute hearing.  If a cat does come it should trigger the camera before it sets off the scarer so we should have evidence of the effectiveness of the scarer.

Tonight we are set up for a repeat run of the experiment.
