Four Barn Swallow Chicks

Our Independence Day blip opportunity came on the walk over to where we could view the fireworks display.
The path took us over a short footbridge on a small stream.
A Barn Swallow mother had her chicks arranged on the reeds below the bridge as if for a group photo.
It may have been their first time out of their nest under the footbridge as they were testing their wings as we watched.
The mother swallow would leave and they’d sit still and alert, but when she came back it was pandemonium with flapping wings and wide open mouths.
We’d not seen a display anything like this before.

The fireworks were very well done, but paled in comparison to this Barn Swallow family’s antics.
