Berwick-upon-Tweed

Arrived in the North East of England on a mini break with Chester, his first little holiday.

Staying in Alnmouth, a lovely little seaside town not far from Bamburgh, we took Chester on the beautiful beach there and then drove out to a few different places.

One of those places was Berwick upon Tweed, which borders England and Scotland.

We learned, as the plaque suggests, that L.S. Lowry, one of Britain's best loved painters, was especially fond of Berwick-upon-Tweed.  He visited many times from the mid 1930's until he died.

This trail identifies the sites of many of his paintings and drawings of the town and allows you to follow in his footsteps.

Time today wasn't permitting but maybe another time, it would be a lovely thing to do.
