Life with The Pinks

Lifeboats

I went on the school trip with Miss Pink today to visit Harwich lifeboat station. We went on the train (very exciting) and then walked through the old town to ha'penny pier. The children viewed the lifeboats and lightship and waved to the cruise ship passengers!
The visit to the lifeboat station was really interesting, and we were all able to climb inside the small lifeboat. Miss Pink was worried that they would make us go out on it, I assured they wouldn't make us take any "shouts" if they occurred.
One of the dad helpers and the teaching assistant had a race to put on the dry suits and kit. And the children tried the helmets on.
After the lifeboat station we headed down to the green for a picnic, and then to the beach to play. The children were brilliant. The boys found an old tyre buried, so they worked together to recover that.
A few of us visited the lifeboat museum which was very small but a short interlude from the VERY hot sun on the beach.
The return train trip was slightly quieter but still bubbling!
Back at the station, I took Miss Pink and Godson 3 (pictured) home via the icecream van, for much needed and well deserved 99's. Mummy included!
