Thank You For the Days ..

Jethart Callant's Festival Day

Today was the big day. The sun shone, the bands played, the cavalcade rode through the town, 250 or so horses and riders, all gleaming like new pins ( though there were a few muddy boots if you looked closely.)

The river was forded, and I don't think anyone fell in.  Then the principals came to the War Memorial and the Callant laid a wreath, a piper (not this one) played the 'Liltin' , and we had a minute's silence.

We came home after that but I can hear the band playing from time to time and sounds of merriment. The funfair is in town, and soon the music will be floating up to us.

It actually feels like summer today. Long may it last (I'm not holding my breath)
