Back down to the Alpine Flower Zone

Day 5 Berthol Hut (3311m) - Arolla. (Please scroll back 4 days if you want more high Alpine scenes).

What a night! It started off really well with a superb sunset that went on and on, lighting up different peaks as the sun's rays found their way through different valleys as it moved. (Some of these views are in https://www.flickr.com/photos/hilarysview/ )

But then came that awful moment of having to share a dortoir with 20 people and I was on the top bunk, furthest away from the window! Fortunately we just had to walk downhill today as I hardly slept at all. There is a picture of the Berthol hut (looks like the Tardis) and its famous ladders that get longer every year as the glaciers retreat, in extras.

Thanks to Steve, Peter and Geoff for inviting me on this wonderful journey which we celebrated in fine style with a lunch in the sun in Arolla. Great to eat salad again!
